I am Faye August. My first experience in watercolors was through a class offered at my local art supply store where a local artist offered beginning watercolor classes. These classes gave me the foundational skllls I needed to pursue watercolors. Since then, I have expanded knowledge and skills through extensive self-study and live workshops with renowned watercolor artists.
My passions for abstracts grew out of a general watercolor workshop that included an introduction to abstracts. This initial exposure to abstracts opened a new world for me as it set my creative spirit loose. For over a decade, I have taught others the magic of watercolor, enabling me to share my love of the medium.
BEYOND BASICS (lvl2)
Come join me in a one day class where we learn different design layouts and use negative painting to add depth and enhance the impact of your abstract. We will explore various ways to add textures creating different elements in your painting. We will also play with distorting/altering/twisting a floral still life resulting in a fun abstracted painting.
Class Cost: $55 per person for one session paid directly to instructor (cash preferred)
Class Dates: Saturday, March 16, 9:30 to 2:00 pm incl. ½ hr lunch
Some experience with watercolor is recommended.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own watercolor supplies to class and lunch refreshments.
Stay tuned for future classes!
What is an art Journal?
The simple answer: writing words and creating art in a blank journal. A deeper answer, it is an exploration and reflection of our outer world and the impact it has on our inner world. Art journaling as meditation is a way to calm the mind as one puts pen and collage to paper.
Leonardo da Vinci kept an art journal which explored his ideas, inventions, and drawings of the human body.
In Van Gogh The Life, "He advised friends on compiling the newly fashionable 'scrapbooks' - blank books in which one could paste favorite images. The advantage is that you can arrange them any way you like.'. He began a print collection of his own that he would add and edit, arrange, and rearrange for the rest of his life., honing ever ore subtle notions of order and context."
Wednesdays, May 8th, 15th and 25th from 11am to 12:30pm
$20/per class.
Bring your basic kit from home! Including non spiral journal, patterned scrapbook papers, stickers or ephemera, washi tape, pens or markers and other media of choice.
